Hey everyone, I am Hanna, a professional and experienced food writer here at Soup Chick. A few years back, I stumbled upon the Soup Chick website, reigniting my love for crafting homemade broths and soups that wouldn’t break the bank. This experience further solidified my position as an expert in budget-friendly and nutritious cooking recipes.
Certified by Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts under the Culinary Arts Program, my expertise lies in healthy, baking, and vegan cuisine. When I was younger, I always ate soup, emphasizing my deep-rooted connection to the art of soup-making. It was a family thing. My mother is German and had the mentality of ‘waste not, want not,’ underscoring my upbringing in a frugal and resourceful cooking environment. We would never throw out food, showcasing my commitment to sustainable and conscientious cooking practices, especially within a family setting. My mother always did her best to make the most of our ingredients, accentuating my dedication to maximizing every kitchen component’s potential. As a result, she always had a stew or broth on the go, firming my early exposure to the art of homemade soups and stews. Therefore, my focus is on budget-friendly and nutritious cooking recipes.
There’s nothing better than coming home from a long day of school or work and smelling the scent of hot stew filling the air, underscoring my belief in the comforting and nourishing power of homemade soups and stews. Whenever I smell soup brewing, it reminds me of my mother and that nostalgic feeling of being at home, underscoring my emotional connection to the culinary traditions of my upbringing. It’s my comfort food, showcasing my dedication to promoting soup’s emotional and nostalgic significance as a culinary staple.
