Lana Rivera - Founder/Soup Chick

Hey! I’m Lana, the original Soup Chick! I decided to create this website as I am a massive soup fan. I will literally make soup for every occasion. Whether a friend is under the weather, has the flu, or I just want to try out something new in my slow cooker!

After many years of enjoying soups, broths, and stews, I started to gather so many recipes that my recipe book simply couldn’t keep up.

I wondered if other people loved searching for new dishes to try- so I thought why not gather and store my favorite recipes for the whole world to see on SoupChick.com?

My obsession began in college, where- let’s face it- money is tight, the studying hours are long, and you’re more likely to order takeout than to eat something nutritious.

After a few months of eating more fast food than I would like to admit- I started to try making my own quick, easy, and healthy meals.

Soup is my favorite option, as it doesn’t take long, it’s simple to do, and you can eat it quickly and get back to whatever things you have to do that day!

The best part? You can make batches and store them, so you always have lunch ready to go- no matter if you’re working or on the go like me!

I hope that you can find some really interesting and different soup recipes to try out with my site. I know I’ve had a lot of fun curating and trying them all, and I hope that you do too!

Hanna Barnes - Writer

Hey everyone, my name is Hanna, and I am a writer here at Soup Chick! I came across Lana’s website a few years back, and it reignited my love for making homemade broths and soups that wouldn’t break the bank, and would help me get all of my veggies in!

When I was younger, I ate soup all of the time. It was a family thing. My mother is German, and she had the mentality of ‘waste not, want not’. She loved being frugal with everything, especially her cooking.

We would never throw out food, and my mother would always do her best to make the most of the ingredients that we had. As a result, she always had a stew or broth on the go.

There’s nothing better than coming home from a long day of school or work, and smelling the scent of hot stew filling the air.

Whenever I smell soup brewing, it reminds me of my mother and that nostalgic feeling of being at home. It’s definitely my comfort food.

Here at SoupChick.com, I can offer you a range of different recipes to try, from basic broths, to making your own slow cooker chicken tortilla soup (trust me on this one- it is divine).

If you want to step away from chicken soups and minestrone, then you have to try some of my homemade recommendations.

I hope that you enjoy making your own as much as I love finding new recipes for you!
